Fundraising
Donations: UTC Rowing has a an account with the UTC
Development Office. This means that all donations are tax
deductable and that all donations qualify for any Matching Gift
programs offered by your employer/company. Please send all
donations (and forms) to:
UTC Rowing
HHP Dept #6606
615 McCallie Avenue
Chattanooga, TN 37403
Make all checks payable to UTC, you can put "rowing" in the memo
section if you wish, but it is not necessary. Coach Espeseth will make
sure that all donations get to the UTC Development Office and properly
credited to the UTC Rowing Team. The UTC Development Office will
also send you a letter regarding your donation for Income Tax purposes.
These donations all go towards rowing equipment acquisitions, usually
the replacement (upgrades) of older rowing shells (boats) by selling the
older shell and using the money raised to purchase a newer shell. Currently,
there is about $6,000 in the Development Account, and we need $8,500 -
$9,000 to upgrade a 10-year old 4+.
Donors receive the following gifts (see merchandise) for the amount
donated (if desired):
$50 - UTC Rowing gray t-shirt
$100 - UTC Rowing gray t-shirt and UTC Crew Cap
$200 - The above plus a UTC Crew Polo shirt
$500 - The above plus a wooden sculling oar
$1,000 - The above plus a wooden sweep oar
$3,000 - The above plus you can name a rowing shell
Programs & Activities: UTC Rowing uses many other means
to raise funds to cover the costs of regattas and to maintain equipment.
In addition to semester dues/fees paid by each rower, UTC Rowing is
part of the BI-LO Boosters and FOODLION MVP programs. The rowing
team also hosts the Tennessee Indoor Rowing Championships (see TN
Indoor section), conducts a Silent Auction in February, coordinates the
Outback Steakhouse @ Hamilton Place Luncheon in February and sells
shirts at some regattas (see Merchandise--regatta).
BI-LO: BI-LO will donate 1% of purchases made by those who present
a bar code sheet (see attachment to the left). This must be done every year,
starting in August, by anyone who shops at BI-LO, even if you have done this
in the past, you must do it again. Please share this with any relatives, friends,
neighbors and even the next person in line with you. Once you have given the
cashier this sheet, you do not have to do it again until next year. The new sheets
are issued by BI-LO in August of each year. So, anytime after UTC Rowing gets
the new sheet, then just get a copy and give it to a cashier. By helping UTC Rowing,
this does not cost you anything financially, nor is anything deducted from reward
programs (like milk, turkey or ham point programs). UTC Rowing is eligible to
receive up to $3,000 annually.
FOOD LION: UTC Rowing also participates in the FOOD LION fundraising
program. Here, the UTC Rowing Team Coach will update the supporter records
annually. All that is required is your name, address, phone number and the 12-digit
FOOD LION MVP number (even the small numbers). There is no cost to the
supporters. Please send the required information to Coach Espeseth (see Contact Us)
Outback Steakhouse @ Hamilton Place Luncheon: This annual event will
be on Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 11 am to 12:30 pm at the Outback Steakhouse
@ Hamilton Place. Tickets are $13.00 per person, with children 10 and under free when
accompanied by both parents. This is a buffet of steak, chicken, chicken tenders, mashed
potatoes and fries, vegetables, roll, dessert and drink (non-alcoholic). All procedes go to the
UTC Rowing Team, since Outback Steakhouse @ Hamilton Place donates all food and
drink.
Silent Auction: The silent auction starts on February 15th with on-line bidding, and final
bids can be made no later than 12 noon during the Outback Steakhouse @ Hamilton Place
luncheon. There are gift certificates from many Chattanooga area hotels, restaurants and
other businesses. See the Silent Auction header for a list of businesses and the bids on
items that are being auctioned.
